Options for Senior Living Entertainment:
Memory Care: Meredith offers a solo flute memory care program. This calming, 45 minute program features very familiar music from the 1920’s to the 1980’s.
Independent or Assisted Living: Meredith offers twelve themed programs, with spoken program notes that introduce each piece. The spoken notes give the audience some background on the piece, such as when it was written, facts about the composer, or things to listen for while she is playing the piece. Some programs were created for a specific time of year, while others are appropriate year-round.
Seasonal Programs
A Winter Journey: A collection of pieces with a winter theme such as “Sleigh Ride” and “Winter Wonderland”, as well as pieces from locations that get snow such as selections from the Sound of Music (Austria), and “Moon River” (New York City).
Flute Serenades for Valentine’s Day: Love songs from three centuries of composition including “That’s Amore”, “Can’t Help Falling in Love”, and a famous Brahms Waltz.
The Sounds of Spring: Irish tunes to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day and songs focused on springtime activities like “Take Me Out to the Ball Game” and “Let’s Go Fly a Kite”.
Autumn Tones: Sights and sounds of the fall season with some Halloween and Thanksgiving pieces such as “Autumn Leaves”, “Bewitched”, and Disney’s “The Sorcerer’s Apprentice”.
Salute to our Veterans: History of American Military music with pieces from the American Revolution, Civil War and current patriotic favorites. Members of the military are invited to stand when the hymns are played for each branch (Army, Navy, Marines, and Air Force).
Melodies for the Holidays: December holidays such as Christmas and Hannukah are highlighted as well as music from holiday movies like “Silver Bells” and “Winter Wonderland”.
Year-Round Programs
Three Centuries of Melodies: A mix of jazz, well known opera and classical pieces, movie soundtracks, and folk tunes which span over 300 years of composition.
Patriotic Favorites: “The National Anthem”, “My Country ‘Tis of Thee”, “You’re a Grand Ol’ Flag”, famous marches and patriotic folk tunes are featured as well as Disney favorites, Henry Mancini songs and a Simon and Garfunkle piece.
Dances Through the Decades: A variety of dance tunes that includes a tango, a polka, an Irish Jig, a waltz, and a square dance, in addition to famous Broadway songs.
America Through the Ages: A history of American music from the Colonial Period through the 20th century. Music from American movies, TV shows and Broadway are featured. It also includes a demonstration of the fife, an instrument used in the American Revolution and the American Civil War.
Musical Travels: A virtual road trip across the USA that highlights music from different parts of the country. “Tennessee Waltz”, “I Left my Heart in San Francisco” and “Yellow Rose of Texas” are included.
Baroque and Beyond: Selections from famous composers of the Baroque Period of music like Bach and Vivaldi. Pieces written after the Baroque Period include “Fly me to the Moon” and selections from Disney’s Cinderella.
Baroque to Beethoven: This special program is forty-five minutes of solo flute playing with no program notes or specialty instruments. It consists of music from only the baroque, classical, and romantic periods and was especially created for public functions. Meredith recently used it as background music for a reception.
